Project Goal:
Supporting sustainable development through arsenic mitigation

Project Objectives:

  1. Increase knowledge levels of the rural poor in Symbiosis working areas regarding arsenic situation and their tube-wells.
  2. Raise awareness of the rural poor in Symbiosis working areas about bad impact of arsenic contamination in human body and identification of alternative use of arsenic free water.
  3. Make access to arsenic free water for drinking and house.

Story:
SAMP project works in different Symbiosis working area NRDS Natrokona is one of those areas. Mrs. Sazada Khaton a Symbiosis group member, group name ‘Shapla land less women group’,in the village of Magshemol, Gagra, Purbadhala, Natrokona. She has a tube well but it was never tested for arsenic so she called our SAMP staff for tested her tube well so one SAMP staff went to her house for tested her tube well then he found that the tube well was contaminated by arsenic. He motivated Sazada and her family members so that they don’t drink arsenic contaminated water he also gave her a three pitcher method so that they can take arsenic free water. Now they do not drink this tube well water without contamination.
